Women Are Better At Planning For Christmas Than Men
With Christmas only a few short weeks away how prepared are you? The chances are that if you are a woman you’re ready for the holidays but if you are a man you’ll have done nothing.
A UK Halifax building society survey has shown that women tend to be far better prepared for Christmas and for beating the economic downturn than men. Around one in three (30%) or women who save for Christmas have said that they started saving earlier this year compared with only 15% of men. Around half of the women surveyed (48%) said that they had prepared a Christmas gift list whereas only 15% of men said they had done the same.
Although there have been reports in the press that the economic downturn is over many of those interviewed have said that they would be spending less this year than last. About half (47%) of women and around 30% of men have reported that they will be speding less on gifts this year compared to last. A large proportion of the men interviewed (75%) said that they would be changing their buying habits by taking advantage of pre-Christmas sales.
Many more are doing their Christmas shopping online this year with around 28% of women and 43% or men saying they would be doing some or all of their gift shopping online. Many of the parents interviewed have reported that they tend to leave the purchase of high value items for their children until last, particularly if they are buying bulky items. This avoids having to find secure hiding places away from prying eyes.
Advice for consumers who want to save some cash this Christmas is to shop around, both online and in the high street. Many stores are offering some outstanding pre-Christmas bargains with discounts as high as 25%. Also, there are plenty of online discount codes available that will provide excellent savings when shopping online.
Whatever you do be sure to have a wonderful, restful and enjoyable Christmas.
